Jim Rohn
Hi, I’m Maria. Thank you so much for coming to my site. I am glad you are here.
If you are anything like me, you know that change isn’t easy and life has its fair share of hard knocks. I can honestly say sometimes I shake my head when I think of what I have experienced over the years. But that’s life, at times we have amazing moments and other times we get curve balls thrown at us that can be overwhelming. In fact, sometimes it can reach the point where we feel that we can’t take one more thing.
My philosophy as a therapist is that I am here to help you figure out what is not working, what is causing your pain, to help create a plan with you and work together to get you where you want to go. Strange as it sounds, sometimes I see myself as a detective. Each person I work with has a unique story and different needs. Together we solve the mystery of what is preventing happiness and causing all that distress. Then we roll up our sleeves and get to work.
Is it hard? Can be. Painful? Sometimes. Fun? I can’t help it, I love my job and I enjoy my time with the people I work with. So, believe it or not, we can actually laugh and enjoy the process together. There is nothing wrong with having some fun while we work. So, yes, therapy can be hard work. But I have been doing this for a long time. And I know when I am working with someone and their life shifts and I can see it and they can feel it, the sense of moving forward, of being alive, of surviving something awful, or of mastering a new skill…. well, getting that feeling about your life is worth a lot. And it is worth a lot to me to be a part of it. After all these years, it still feels like magic when I work with someone who has survived some trauma, or begins to recover from depression or anxiety or just needs to find a way to communicate with their child in a way that works and suddenly it all starts to come together. Its an amazing feeling.
I knew I was going to be a therapist by the time I was a teenager (weird, I know). That was a long time ago, and I consider it a privilege to be a part of change, healing and growth over the years.
I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you and see if we might be a good fit to work together. Please feel free to go to my contact page and send me an email or give me a call.
Thanks and looking forward to meeting you!
Maria
